Your Ultimate Summer Date Guide

K: One of the major areas of focus for our blog is providing dating tips and ideas for other couples. Brandon and I feel like it's so important to date your spouse and try to give meaningful ways for you to connect and broaden your relationship. I'm so excited because today, we've teamed up with some amazing travel and lifestyle bloggers, all in relationships, who are here to share their advice and opinions on three questions that we asked:

Wine + Cheese Night with Sudara

K: Brandon and I have an unhealthy obsession with cheese. There's nothing better than a wine and cheese night and this past weekend, that's exactly what we planned (along with a Game of Thrones marathon). For evenings like this when you know you aren't leaving your house, or maybe even your couch, there's a necessity for chic and comfortable loungewear and that's where Sudara comes into play.

My Favorite New Sandals

K: K: I love a good linen dress, especially this TJ Maxx steal that was $34.99. I've got several in my closet right now and have found that the breathable fabric is airy and perfect for any hot, summer day. We've been having triple digit days already and Brandon and I are counting down until we're in Puerto Rico (only a week and a half now). If you've ever been, we'd love suggestions or recommendations! I know that this dress will have a spot in my suitcase because of its versatility and lightweight fabric.

Classic with a Vintage Feel

K: I've always loved anything with a vintage feel to it. I grew up playing in my grandmother's attic, exploring all of my mother's dresses and colorful costume jewelry. When I saw this butter yellow dress, the silhouette felt classic with a vintage flair. I definitely plan on packing it for Puerto Rico (we leave in just two weeks!!) because it was such a breezy little dress and managed to keep me cool for the duration of the day.  Brandon and I had the best morning shooting this look with our friend and photographer Lauren Bosse and we're so thankful that she reached out to us, wanting to capture our style. If you missed Monday's post, be sure to check out the photos here.

Our Perfect Planter

B: Two weeks ago, Katherine and I set out on a quest for a great looking front porch planter (see our post here). We scoured garden stores of all over town, and assessed planters of every variety, size, and shape, until finally...we found a beautiful planter. The next step - plants! Katherine made the final decision with the planter, therefore the plant variety selection was left to me - at least mostly. We were limited to shade tolerant plant varieties because our front porch receives a mere few hours of sunlight every day. We have shared our plant shopping experience that led to finding and agreeing upon three colorful shade tolerant plants that hopefully our neighborhood deer will not eat in the middle of the night.

Summer Loving + More About Us

We're mushy. If you've been following us from the beginning, you know this and it shouldn't come as a surprise, seeing as how we are a couple blog. Stop right here if you aren't in the mood for sweet words and a warm heart.

There's something about summer that brings a little love out of everyone. The warm breeze, the possibility of adventure, and long, lazy weekends with the one you love. This past weekend, that's what we accomplished as we set out for an adventure in Fredericksburg. We've documented the town once before (you can see our post here and here); but this time, we had an amazing photographer to capture every moment. If you're in the hill country area, we cannot recommend Lauren enough.

Transparency To Our Readers...

K: Today's post is a little bit different from our usual. Brandon and I want to make this a true couples blog where you hear from both of us consistently; with that being said, I do run the social media aspect of our blog and am more immersed in that part of it than Brandon. Over our last few months of blogging, I've learned so many new things and have been able to experience an entirely new side to social media and the blogging world. I thought it might be nice to be completely transparent in my opinions, in the hopes of sharing what our true mission is with this blog and what we hope you may gain from reading it.

How to Have a Weekend Staycation

Your Perfect Staycation:

1. Make a Reservation Someplace New. For our staycation weekend, Brandon suggested that we visit The Guenther House for an early breakfast. We'd never been to the southern style restaurant, located along the San Antonio River. Having something to look forward to, like brunch or dinner at a trendy spot, is a great way to ensure that you're experiencing something new in your city. On this particular morning, it was a perfect temperature so we ate outside and made sure to try the dishes that the restaurant was famous for (like their giant cinnamon roll and homemade biscuits).

A Summer Stroll in King William

K: Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, hands down. San Antonio doesn't have endless options of unique breakfast restaurants, so when Brandon suggested that we head downtown to The Guenther House for brunch, I obviously couldn't say no. The Guenther House is in the King William area of San Antonio, a gorgeous historic neighborhood with preserved homes dating back as far as the 1800s. We've always loved exploring this little area, although we don't get down nearly as often as we'd like. After some homemade biscuits (made from flour from the restaurant mill), we walked the residential streets, snapping pictures and admiring history.

Hunting for the Perfect Planter

K: Brandon and I have been persistent in our hunt for the perfect planter (you can see our inspiration here, here, and here). We're looking to add a little curb appeal and color to our front porch stoop and feel like a medium sized pot would be an ideal addition. During our quest, we stumbled upon this beautiful garden shop in the Alamo Heights area of San Antonio. It was an outdoor oasis with gorgeous plants and a fairly large selection of planters, all in varying sizes. While we didn't come to a decision (Brandon and I are like to weigh our options heavily), it was fun to shop around together before we grabbed a quick bite at our favorite Mexican restaurant. It made me realize that couples should do more shopping together, but with a mutual goal in mind. Instead of taking your guy to go shoe shopping with you, find a project or an item that you're both looking for. Maybe it's an addition to your home, or the perfect set of dishes for your next dinner party. Either way, any shopping excursion is more fun with the one you love.

A Lovely Morning at the Lavender Farm

K: I've never been a huge fan of the color purple; however, lavender is one of my favorite scents and this spring, Brandon and I vowed that we would visit a nearby lavender farm once the blooms occurred. We drove about thirty minutes outside of San Antonio to the most charming farm, complete with fresh peaches, farmers market veggies, chickens, and of course, lavender. Although our warm winter this past year caused mediocre blooms, we had a blast exploring the fields, relishing in the sweet smell of lavender.

Lemon Print and Our Summer To-Do List

K: Summer is officially here! School ended last week for me, so today marks my start to summer. Although Brandon still has a traditional working schedule, I'm looking forward to some time to focus on One Swainky Couple and lots of exciting weekend dates for Brandon and I! We've always been very goal-oriented people and ever since we began dating, Brandon and I have been making little "to-do" lists. We thought we'd share with you what our goals and plans are for this summer. Leave a comment and tell us what you'd like to accomplish this season!

A Date at the Zoo

B: Growing up in San Antonio, I have been coming to its zoo since before I can remember. The sights and smells draw recollections of memories long past, but the main reason I love the zoo is because of its residents. I was glued to Animal Planet and Discovery Channel when I was younger, and at times in my life, I have felt that I know more about the animal kingdom than humankind. A significant contribution to my understanding of the would and its creatures (other than having a double major in Environmental Science) came from my hero, Steve Erwin - the Crocodile Hunter. His passions of both conservation and preservation run through my mind daily, and I am thankful Katherine is so very patient to listen to my random critter facts and stories.
