Our Wedding Day: December 11, 2016

Brandon and I got married at Lost Mission in Spring Branch, Texas. The venue is only a few years old, although it appears to look like an antiquated San Antonio mission. The white stucco, dark wood details, and rustic elegance drew us in, giving Brandon and I the perfect place for our wedding. We actually found Lost Mission independently from one another. Right before hopping on a flight to our friend's wedding, we had the venue website pulled up, ready to show the other. When we revealed the location on our phones, we were shocked to find that we'd picked the same place. From there, it was meant to be. We booked the site and began planning.

For Brandon, wearing a wedding ring was a big ordeal. He'd never worn a ring of any kind, and the idea had him a little nervous. It was a lot of fun to see a shift in that attitude once we got married. He was so excited to have a ring on his finger and proudly showed off the distressed sterling silver to our photographer and guests.

One thing that I loved about the chapel was the simplistic look and the bare bones. We did not feel like much decoration was needed. The minimal cross, wooden pews, stone floors, and chandeliers gave us everything we needed for the actual ceremony.

Brandon and I were able to share numerous intimate moments before we entered the reception hall. Our photographer did an amazing job in our couple photos, ensuring that we had a variety of staged and candid photos. We believe that it's so important for couples to have these meaningful moments before you get swept away in the reception party.

Floral arrangements continued our timeless and classic theme, truly encompassing who we are as a couple. We chose a mix of roses, peonies, and greenery. Our talented florist Pattie from Elegant Bee mixed in seasonal flowers and kept the palette fresh and sophisticated. Candles and gold accents made for an elegant atmosphere in the reception hall.

December 11th was the most memorable and perfect day for Brandon and I. We could not have asked for anything better from our wedding day. I know that I will look back and remember the details, the little moments, and the sweet friends and family that were in attendance. With that being said, we both stand by the idea that a wedding is exciting and wonderful, but a marriage is lasting and much more important than the one day celebration. Now as we navigate marriage, we can reflect back onto our day of celebration with smiles and fond memories, knowing that we have so many exciting times ahead of us.

  1. Pleased to know about your wedding day party. Couple of months ago, I arranged my sister-in-law’s wedding at one of the lovely NYC wedding venues. Hired a reputed florist and he did unique decorations for this event. Everyone loved their work.
